Tis' the Season!

I just wanted to share a few pictures of my Christmas tree with you. I decided to do a vintage inspired tree with antique mercury glass ornaments, a vintage tree topper, ornaments made with german scraps, Dresden foil and old music sheets, and a vintage scarf around the base.

The german scrap ornaments came from this lovely shop... 32 North Supplies, and the mercury glass ornaments came from here.... Silver Lining

Look at my vintage brass deer candle holder on the right!

Vintage Find

I recently found this old metal flower wall hanging at an antique mall. I think it came out of an old Spiegel catalog and was an ugly yellow color so I slapped on a glossy bright rosy pink spray paint. I love the way it turned out, and it looks awesome on my dusty blue wall. It's amazing what paint can do. Wish I had a before picture to show!!

Fashion Show

After watching project runway religiously this season, I got to go to a fashion show at the Greenbrier Friday night. Designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka showed off amazing dresses from their new Spring 2011 collection. Badgley Mischka is known for their glamourous and luxurious details and have been named "Top 10 American Designers" by Vogue. Their style is much like hollywood glamour of the 1940s. It truly was a spectacular show and the dresses were amazing. You can see alot of the dresses on their website here under the spring 2011 collection

Inspiration

Last night was the first time I have watched the movie 'Titanic' since I was a kid. I totally didn't realize how rad the hats/hair pieces are in this movie. They wear alot of oversized pieces with feathers and flowers. Do you ever wonder - If you lived a previous life, which era would you have lived in? I think this one would have been mine.

Fall Roses

Aren't these roses gorgeous? I snagged these at work after they were used for a wedding. They are called 'circus' roses. They are bright yellow and orange in the middle kissed with red at the edges. Makes me even more ready for fall!!

West Virginia Artisans

WOW...I have not written on this thing in a really long time and just now realized it! Time is flying by! I recently finished three boutonnieres, three hair pieces, and three floral arrangements for an adorable shop that just opened at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia called WV Marketplace. The store showcases beautiful items designed and made by local artists and craftsmen such as pottery, jewelry, food items, wedding accessories, soaps, baskets, and much more. It is a flagship store of WV Living Magazine and WV Weddings Magazine (the mag I'm currently featured in). The store is showcasing local talent as well as trying to encourage more people to buy locally rather than purchasing products made out of the country. I really want to thank Nikki, owner and editor of WV Living and WV Weddings, for letting me be apart of this fabulous store!!

Isn't it cute?

Ohh what would I do without floral tape??

I know I'm blogging about floral tape which is kinda weird but I got really excited the other day when I found this old box of floral tape at a local antique mall. It even has the roll of tape inside and looks the same as it does today if you go buy it. It even gives you directions on the back and has a tape dispenser at the top of the box. I love the vintage carnation picture on the front of the box. Well, you're probably wondering why I am so excited about this green not so attractive tape. Floral tape is the stem base of most of my wedding boutonnieres, bouquets, and corsages. It makes putting them together soooo much easier than any other way, and I probably go through 5 rolls a month. There's about 30 yards or so on a roll so that's 450 feet a month!!!
